Emmerdale star confirms if Victoria will return to ITV soap after abrupt exit

After Emmerdale’s Victoria Sugden fled the village weeks on from turning killer, actress Isabel Hodgins has addressed whether she will return to the ITV soap and when
Victoria Sugden’s Emmerdale future may have been confirmed after questions from fans.
Some wondered if the character had left for good, after her abrupt exit earlier this year. Victoria fled the village after recent drama, including her accidentally killing her brother John Sugden, and being exposed by Joe Tate.
In real life, actress Isabel Hodgins who plays her went on maternity leave, with her since welcoming her first child. Victoria told her brother Robert Sugden that she and her son Harry would be back, when she departed.
But fans were left wondering if it was a permanent exit, and now Isabel has revealed all. Speaking honestly about motherhood and her plans, she revealed how her outlook had changed.
She revealed her plan that she had in mind, while admitting the possible mum guilt could impact things. Speaking on her co-star Danny Miller’s podcast with Nigel Clucas, titled You Don’t Know You’re Born, the actress explained her soap future.
She also revealed she was never forced by bosses to give a definite decision on when she would return. She shared: “I will need to find a way to manage that. For 20 years, work has been my priority.
“To be honest, I still don’t know when I’m going back. In my ideal world, it would be September. And then it’s all systems go. [That’s when] it really starts with the juggling and potential mum guilt, and whatever.”
Isabel added of Emmerdale’s bosses: “It was very much at my discretion how much [time] I wanted off.” It follows the big news that the Sugden family are expanding in Victoria’s absence.
West End star Casey Al-Shaqsy will be joining the cast of Emmerdale as Serena Sugden very soon. She debuts in a matter of days, while her link to the family has not been fully explained.
Despite some initial spoilers suggesting she was Robert’s cousin, other spoilers suggested she was linked to Sarah Sugden. All will be revealed and cleared up soon when she heads to the village.
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw teased: “The Sugdens are a core part of the Emmerdale fabric, and we are thrilled to welcome Casey to the family. Her character will be at the heart of some extremely gripping and unexpected storylines, forcing her to make difficult choices that will have dramatic consequences for some of the village’s biggest names.”
Casey shared her excitement about joining the show: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining such an iconic show and playing a Sugden! Serena is a fantastic character with so much going on beneath the surface. I can’t wait for the audience to see the drama unfold.”
