Jessie J has shared a hospital video, revealing how she felt after getting a mastectomy in June 2025 following an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis, and said the operation ‘changed her forever’
Jessie J has shared a hilarious video of herself just after her mastectomy. The singer had to get the operation in June 2025 after receiving an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis.
In the video, Jessie was lying in a hospital bed, wearing a patient gown. Someone offscreen asked her if she was ok, at which point, she looked down at her chest and said: “Ok girls, time to shine.”
Turning to the camera, she added, “My nipples are like this”, and made a face where her eyes her wide and she pushed her head forward, straining her neck.
In the caption, Jessie made light of the medication she was on after her operation: “A year ago today I was off my tits (literally)!! I had a right side single mastectomy and it’s mad how I didn’t look that rough.”
She continued: “Ok girl, time to shine. 12.6.25 changed me forever. Thank you Dr Gui. You are forever a hero to me.” The singer ended her post with an impassioned plea to fans: “Check your breasts and armpits people. It could save your life.”
The 37-year-old was diagnoses with breast cancer in 2025 and revealed the news at the same time as revealing that she was having the operation.
“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’,” she told fans in a video message. “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.
“I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music. I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard.
“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse – that’s the bit that kills me.”
She added: “Honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don’t want this to be any different.”
A month later, Jessie told fans that she was crying “happy tears” as tests following her operation showed her cancer had not spread. She thanked fans for their “prayers” and “love”.
The news was shared via a video, where she started with a clip taken before she went for surgery in which her son said: “Mummy’s gonna be ok.” She then added: “And… I am ok.”
