Frightening moment powerful 7.2 earthquake rocks Venezuelan baseball game — sending players bolting

A baseball game in Caracas was interrupted in the most terrifying way possible as a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake started rumbling the ground in the middle of an at-bat, jaw-dropping video shows.

During the LMBP TV broadcast, the perspective of the cameras starts visibly shaking, but the players don’t seem to notice at first.

Then the batter calls time after apparently realizing what was going on, at which point he, the umpire and catcher quickly crane their necks to see what was happening.

The footage then cuts to a view from above home plate showing the entire field and white clouds hanging over mountains outside the stadium, as dozens of players and what appear to be fans rush to the center of the field.

Light poles, power lines and the stadium’s public address system speakers can all be seen trembling as chaos engulfs the ballpark.

A magnitude-7.2 quake struck roughly 100 miles west of Caracas, followed just 39 seconds later by an even bigger 7.5-magnitude temblor, according to the US Geological Survey.
