Courtney Stodden Calls Out Dr. Drew Over Resurfaced TV Clip Showing On-Air Breast Exam as a Teen

Courtney Stodden is speaking out after footage from a controversial television appearance more than a decade ago resurfaced online, with the reality star accusing the adults around them of exploiting them during their teenage years.
The clip, taken from a 2011 episode of Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers, has reignited conversation on social media about the treatment Stodden received after marrying actor Doug Hutchison as a teenager. During the broadcast, Stodden — who was 17 when the episode was filmed — underwent an on-air breast ultrasound before a live studio audience to address speculation about whether their breasts were natural.
Revisiting the moment in an Instagram post, Stodden said watching the footage again was deeply upsetting and questioned why the segment was ever considered appropriate.
“Dr. Drew had me on his show when I was 16 and had me undergo an ultrasound to see if my breasts were real or if I was lying about my breasts,” Stodden wrote. “I wasn’t an underage girl. I was a minor trapped in a situation that I wasn’t able to get out of legally. I had no rights at the time.”
Stodden also alleged that the appearance fee never went to them, claiming the money was instead paid directly to Hutchison.
“The money he paid me to be on the show went straight to my abuser. These photos bring up a lot of sadness for me because I see a little girl being exploited by grown men and used for views and mockery.”
The post concluded with a direct message to Dr. Drew, in which Stodden challenged the physician and television host over the decision to air the segment.
“Dr. Drew, what made you think this was a good idea? As a doctor, did you think this was actually healthy for a little girl to experience? Did you even care?”
The resurfaced footage has since generated widespread backlash, with many viewers saying the segment reflected a broader culture that failed to protect young women in the public eye.
Comments across Instagram and other social platforms questioned how the examination was allowed to air in the first place. “How did we ever live in a world where this was ok?” one person wrote, while another described the segment as “so disturbing” and “wildly inappropriate.”
The conversation spilled over to Reddit, where users echoed similar concerns and expressed sympathy for Stodden.
“Everyone failed this girl. Every single fucking person,” one widely shared comment read.
Another user wrote, “God, the look of complete disassociation on this poor child. I fucking hate that every adult in her life failed her, but I’m so glad she’s telling her truth.”
