‘Silo’ Season 3 Cast Guide: Who Plays Daniel, Helen, And More New Characters

In the final minutes of Silo Season 2, Apple TV‘s hit dystopian drama took viewers back in time to pre-apocalyptic Washington, D.C. to introduce Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zuckerman) and journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick). In Season 3, we’re spending a lot more time with the duo and meeting a whole new cast.
In Silo‘s incredible third season, creator Graham Yost brilliantly toggles back and forth between Juliette Nichols’ (Rebecca Ferguson) story and the happenings in Silo 18 to the “Before Times.” In doing so, the show not only answers some of its core questions (Who built the silo? How? And why?!) but introduces a number of new characters who are essential to the story.
Since we’re spending much more time getting to know Daniel and Helen, Zuckerman and Henwick were upped to series regulars for Season 3. But they’re not the only fresh faces fans meet this season…
New characters are introduced in the “Before Times” and down in the silo, so in honor of Season 3’s premiere on Friday, July 3, DECIDER assembled a handy cast guide of fresh major players you’ll get to know over the course of these new 10 episodes. Stay tuned for more updates and additions as the season progresses!
Ashley Zuckerman as Daniel Keene

First up, Ashley Zuckerman returns as Daniel Keene! We first met Daniel in the final minutes of Season 2’s finale when Silo flashed back to show him and Helen on something that sort of resembled a date in pre-apocalyptic Washington, D.C. We learned that Daniel was a freshman congressman representing the 15th district of Georgia, he got his Masters in Engineering at the University of Georgia, and he had experience in the Army Corps of Engineers. When Helen questioned him about a “dirty bomb” and plans to strike back against Iran, Daniel excused himself. But before he left, he handed her a gift he “panic bought” at a convenience store around the corner from his apartment: a Pez dispenser, specifically the exact Relic that George gave Juliette in the silo!
Silo Season 3 explores much more of Daniel’s story in Before Times flashbacks, so let’s get to know more about Zuckerman, shall we? If the 42-year-old Australian actor looks familiar, you may recognize him from one of his 40 film and television credits listed on IMDb, including Rush, The Code, Manhattan, Apple Cider Vinegar, A Teacher, Designated Survivor, Underbelly, Netflix’s Fear Street films, The Lost Symbol, Succession, and more. Jessica Henwick as Helen Drew

Jessica Henwick also returns as Helen Drew! Like Daniel, we first met Helen in the final minutes of Season 2’s finale when Silo flashed back to the two ad a bar in pre-apocalyptic Washington, D.C. We quickly learned she was a journalist trying to get info on”the dirty bomb” and the political aftermath. “I’m here because I think the people you work for — and by that I mean the citizens of this country, not the shadowy creeps who pay for campaigns — I think the people need to know if there are plans to strike back against Iran, whether or not there really was a radiological weapon attack on the U.S.,” she told Daniel. When we saw Helen, she was holding the Pez dispenser Daniel gave her. But we’ll see a lot more of her in Season 3, so let’s learn more about Henwick.
If the 33-year-old English actor, writer, and director looks familiar you may recognize her from her 50+ television and film credits listed on IMDb. Since kickstarting her on-screen career in 2009, Henwick has starred in everything from Spirit Warriors, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, The Defenders, Iron Fist, Blade Runner: Black Lotus, The Gray Man, Glass Onion, Blood of Zeus, Vladimir, and more. Jessica Brown Findlay as Charlotte Keene

We first meet Jessica Brown Findlay’s Charlotte Keene in Silo’s Season 3 premiere when she goes to great lengths to secretly meet with Daniel, who we learn is her brother. She urges him to learn everything he can about the Iran mission, as she’s a Naval aviator attached to the Nimitz. Though her plane goes down in Season 3, Episode 1, she miraculously survives. But when Daniel goes to visit her, he learns she’s lost her memory, which mirrors Juliette’s story. We’ll continue to follow her as the season progresses, so let’s learn more about Findlay!
If the 38-year-old English actor looks familiar you may recognize her from nearly 40 film and television credits on IMDb, including Downton Abbey, Black Mirror, Brave New World, Hamlet (2018), Harlots, and more. Laura Innes as Senator Thurman

In Season 3’s premiere, we meet Senator Thurman when Daniel visits her office and makes his case to join her Iran Committee. Her and her daughter Anna (Morven Christie) will be key players in the Before Times timeline, so let’s learn more about Laura Innes, shall we?
If Senator Thurman looks familiar you may recognize the 68-year-old actor and director from one of her 40+ film and television credits, including How to Get Away with Murder, Awake, The Event, and more. But Innes best known for her long-running role as Kerry Weaver on ER.
Morven Christie as Anna

As mentioned, Anna is Senator Thurman’s daughter, who we also meet in Silo‘s Season 3 premiere. Thurman describes Anna as “the writer in the family,” and she keeps Daniel informed about his sister’s involvement in the Iran Operation. We’ll see more of her as Season 3 progresses, so here’s what to know about Morven Christie.
If Anna looks familiar, you may recognize the 44-year-old Scottish actor and filmmaker from her nearly 50 film and TV credits on IMDb, including The Bay, The A Word, Grantchester, Ordeal by Innocence, Lockwood & Co., Payback, and more. Want to stay up-to-date with Christie’s career? You can follow her on Instagram at @morvchristie.
Reed Birney

Reed Birney is barely in Silo‘s premiere, so we’re keeping his role under wraps for now. But a photo of him alongside Matt Craven confirms he’ll play a role in the Before Times timeline, and fans of the books likely have a guess…
If the 71-year-old Tony-winning actor looks familiar you likely know him from his work on stage or his role in more than 100 film and television credited on IMDb, including Mass, House of Cards, The Menu, Nova Vita, Home Before Dark, American Horror Story, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, Blue Film, and more. Stay tuned for more information on Birney’s Silo character in the coming weeks.
Matt Craven

Matt Craven doesn’t appear in Silo‘s premiere, so we’re keeping his role under wraps for now. But a photo of him alongside Reed Birney confirms he’ll play a role in the Before Times timeline, and fans of the books likely have a guess…
If the 69-year-old Canadian actor looks familiar you likely know him from his role in nearly 100 film and television credited on IMDb, including Crimson Tide, A Few Good Men, X-Me: First Class, Jacob’s Ladder, Resurrection, NCIS, L.A. Doctors, High Incident, and more. Stay tuned for more information on Craven’s Silo character in the coming weeks.
Colin Hanks as Per Stensen

Colin Hanks doesn’t appear in Silo‘s premiere, so we’re keeping his role largely under wraps for now. But it’s public knowledge that he’s playing Per Stensen, a billionaire in the Before Times who crosses paths with Helen and Daniel.
In addition to knowing the 48-year-old actor, producer, director, and filmmaker as Tom Hanks’ son, you’re sure to recognize him from one of 70 film and television credits listed on IMDb, including King Kong, Orange County, Untraceable, The House Bunny, A Friend of the Family, The Offer, American Crime Story, Life in Pieces, Fargo, Roswell, The Good Guys, and more.
