Mets appreciate what Andy Green has already done in ‘impossible’ situation

ATLANTA — Andy Green began Week 2 in his interim managerial role on Friday, savoring his return to the dugout but under no illusion that he possesses all the answers.

A week earlier, Green departed the Mets’ front office, where he served as vice president for player development, to assume the managerial reins upon Carlos Mendoza’s firing.

The Mets lost four of six games in Green’s first week, continuing a skid that will leave them as sellers heading to the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

“I think it’s fair to say it takes a while to get to know everybody in a clubhouse and to acclimate,” Green said before the Mets began a four-game series against the Braves at Truist Park.
