At least two people are dead and several others injured after a mass shooting broke out at a large Latin street festival in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday.

The violence erupted at the Salsa on St Clair festival just after 8 p.m., Toronto Police Service said in a statement on X.

At least six people are being treated for gunshot wounds, police added. The two killed were tragically declared dead at the scene.

The popular festival had been held annually for 22 years, CNN reported, citing the organizers.

Authorities have told people to avoid the area until further updates are provided.

The Toronto celebration is Canada’s largest Latin street festival, which bring in large crowds every year.
