WASHINGTON — There’s another Pettitte entering the Yankees organization.

The club drafted Luke Pettitte, son of longtime Yankee left-hander and current special adviser Andy Pettitte, with their eighth-round pick on Sunday.

Luke Pettitte, 21, is a two-way player who did not pitch this spring at Dallas Baptist after undergoing Tommy John surgery last year, but served as the DH and hit 16 home runs in 42 games.

It remains to be seen how the Yankees will use the right-hander, assuming he signs.

According to Baseball America, Pettitte has “some of the best command in the 2026 [draft] class.”

Andy Pettitte, who coached his sons in high school, pitched 15 seasons in pinstripes and won five World Series before rejoining the organization in 2023.

He is around the club occasionally, working specifically with the pitching staff, and has served as an important mentor for a number of arms, including Cam Schlittler.
