Unhinged stranger shoves man into NYC train in terrifying random attack

A stranger shoved a man into a moving Bronx train — without saying a word — in a vicious random attack last month, cops and sources said Wednesday.

The 47-year-old victim, who hasn’t been identified, was waiting on the southbound platform at the Fordham Road/Grand Concourse station around 2:20 p.m. June 27 when the unhinged attacker pushed him into an arriving D train, police said.

The shove was unprovoked and the assailant — who did not know the victim — said nothing to him beforehand, according to authorities and sources.

The victim did not fall onto the tracks, but he hit his head on the moving train car, police said.

The attacker randomly pushed the victim, 47, as a southbound train pulled into the Fordham Road/Grand Concourse station around 2:20 p.m. June 27, police and sources said.  NYPD

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with injuries to his mouth and face, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the suspect fled on foot and remains on the loose more than two weeks later, police said.

Blurry surveillance footage shows the lanky suspect pacing around the subway car wearing a white undershirt and dark-colored pants.

Major crime in the city’s subway system was down by about 1% in June, compared to last year, according to NYPD data released earlier this month.

But felony assaults, specifically, were up by 20 incidents in the month, according to the department.

Felony assault arrests on the rails also increased by 9% through the first six months of the year, the department said.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information on the late June attack to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, on X @NYPDTips.
