Tom Cruise invites AMC employees to watch private ‘Odyssey’ screening after showing up late to IMAX event

Tom Cruise was running late.

On Wednesday night, IMAX held a screening for “The Odyssey” at the AMC Lincoln Square in New York and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the 63-year-old movie star.

But Cruise was not immune to the vicissitudes of Mother Nature, and his plans were disrupted by an unexpected thunderstorm that delayed his arrival to Manhattan. He didn’t get to the Upper West Side until 10:45 p.m., well after the screening of Christopher Nolan’s Greek epic had finished.

That’s when Cruise, one of the world’s great proponents of the theatrical experience, gave a handful of AMC employees a story they will never forget.

A source tells Page Six Hollywood IMAX re-screened the movie for Cruise, but not before he rounded up every AMC staffer sweeping up and restocking concessions, and brought them into the theater to watch the movie with him.

Cruise can next be seen this October in Warner Bros.

Cruise, as he has famously done the past few years, shouted out the movie via his Instagram feed, and urged people to see it.

He can next be seen in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s upcoming movie “Digger,” which releases in October.
