House passes Iran war powers resolution as four Republicans join Dems to rebuke Trump

WASHINGTON — The House voted to curtail President Trump’s ability to wage war in Iran Thursday, just before lawmakers are set to break for a five-week recess.

The lower chamber adopted a war powers resolution in a 214-208 vote, demanding Trump wind down the military campaign in Iran.

That marks the second time such a measure cleared the lower chamber in recent months.

Republican Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), Tom Barrett (R-Mich.), Reps. Warren Davidson ( R-Ohio), and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) joined Democrats in backing the measure.

The vote comes on the heels of the deaths of four American service members who were killed in attacks from Iran over the weekend.
