A Florida senior citizen’s attempt to woo a young female “sugar baby” with a splurge of cash went horribly wrong when he menaced her and her friends with a gun and rammed their getaway car after she tried to escape their first date, cops said.

The wrong-way romance allegedly began when David O’Brien, 67, allegedly told the woman over the Tinder dating app on July 12 that he was “looking for a sugar baby,” and the pair agreed to meet for a meal Tuesday evening, investigators said.

The elderly Romeo allegedly offered to give the unnamed young woman $1,000 for her troubles, saying he would buy her dinner and adding “I love to shop for you,” an arrest report obtained by The Post claims.

The woman was driven to the night out by three friends, and the evening got off to a good start for the woman when O’Brien allegedly gave the gal $200 and “took her to a lingerie store where she purchased 3 items” before he gave her another $600 at a restaurant.

He then took the woman back to his $270,000 home in The Villages retirement community in Central Florida — where things took a turn for the worse, cops said.

The woman allegedly “began to feel uncomfortable” at the house and asked her friends to pick her up.

O’Brien is then said to have demanded that she give the money he’d handed over back “because that was not the agreement,” but she refused and left.

The defendant allegedly “began to chase the 4 victims” in his Ford F-150 pickup before ramming their vehicle, causing it to hit a pole, and coming back round again to hit it again, leaving it “disabled.”

The woman and two of her friends managed to flee but a man in the car was allegedly confronted by O’Brien.

“The defendant pointed his 22 semi-automatic Ruger at him and told him to get on the ground or he would kill him,” the arrest report from Sumter County Sheriff’s Office states.

Fearful that O’Brien was going to shoot him as he lay face down on the ground, the man said he was able to escape when his attacker was distracted.

O’Brien allegedly “briefly” attempted to find the other victims until he was found by law enforcement in his F-150 with his gun after they had received several 911 calls regarding the crash.

He was arrested and later booked on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and four counts of aggravated battery, according to the arrest report.

O’Brien was taken to Sumter County jail and released Thursday afternoon on a $90,000 bond.
