The Issue: Blaming a “glitch” for some 400 noncitizen votes in NJ elections since 2023.

It’s very interesting that the first thing Gov. Mikie Sherill did after finding out about noncitizen votes was throw ex-Gov. Phil Murphy under the bus, however true it may be (“NJ blew it on voters, says biz, not us,” July 23).

This poses the question of how many other states have made the same “mistake.” Murphy should prepare to see a lot of senators when he testifies in front of the Senate Judiciary committee.

Great reporting on the New Jersey voter fraud story and on Gov. Sherrill’s comedic attempt to blame a “software glitch” for her state’s voter scandal. This is probably happening in every blue state in America.

This was no computer glitch; this was the policy instituted by the New Jersey Democrat machine. First, they allow driver licenses for noncitizens, then they include easy voter registration at the Motor Vehicle Commission. No wonder noncitizens voted in New Jersey.

I’m not shocked that New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill — a lockstep Dem who didn’t vote for the Laken Riley Act and did not support the Big Beautiful Bill — admitted New Jersey registered 6,600 noncitizens to vote.

One guesses this is a mere drop in the bucket and Sherrill is trying to get ahead of any other “glitches” in hopes of a presidential run in 2028. A glitch in deep-blue Jersey? Indeed.

The question isn’t how a “glitch” at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission allowed 6,600 non-citizens to be enrolled to vote. The question is: Why should non-citizens be allowed to get driver’s licenses and state IDs in the first place?

When evaluating a software package, you have the right and obligation to examine features and request modifications. For New Jersey, the solution to prevent noncitizen ballots seems simple.

The computer should first ask: “Are you a citizen?” If the answer is “No,” it should jump to the next section of the application. Don’t even ask the voter-registration question. It would be willfully ignorant to overlook this modification.

The Issue: The growing rift between moderate and far-left members of the Democratic Party.

The long-time moderate Democrats have to refocus their energies on the Democratic Socialists of America (“Mao’ing down capitalism,” Karol Markowicz, July 22).

It’s time to pivot from hating President Trump. The real threat to democracy is within the Democratic Party. The DSA is quickly chipping away and transforming the party. The old guard has to mount a challenge and bring the party back.

The Democratic Socialists of America seem to have swarmed the country. Their type of government has failed more often than not. How can so many people vote this type of government into office and actually think it would be best for America?

If you want to live under socialism, just leave for Vietnam, Cuba and the few other countries that live under this type of “rule.”

I see the DSA as a Hieronymus Bosch painting, its grotesque candidates winning primary after primary, casting mainline and even highly progressive incumbent Democrats onto the discard pile.

They have no patience for traditional norms and will collapse the tent when crazies take over the encampment. This warning is a falling tree in a forest of deaf Democrats.
