Smith and Carrington began dating in 2020 while they both played basketball for Baylor. The two also played together last season for the Wings before Smith was traded to Las Vegas.

Carrington, 28, has been rumored to be in a relationship with Smith’s Aces teammate, Jackie Young. Neither have confirmed or commented on the rumors that started in the offseason.

Smith continued by addressing Carrington naming Kelly and Nye in her post.

“Then, to bring up folks name that has nothing to do with anything. These folks is minding their business. These folks woke up to this s–t on a random Sunday night of these type of allegations,” Smith said. “I think that’s very weird.”

After Carrington’s post, it was unclear what prompted to publicly disclose the information about her former relationship.

Per Smith, the drama seemingly started when the former couple ran into each other at a party during the WNBA All-Star break and some fans accused the 25-year-old of seeking out the drama to start with.

“Here goes DiJonai. ‘You talkin to that bitch. You talkin to that bitch.’ Bitch this. Bitch that. I’m like ‘Why I gotta be a bitch?’ Literally on my grandmother’s grave, I’m like ‘Damn why I gotta be a bitch.’ That’s how the whole thing started,” Smith started with on the video. “I’m literally like ‘Who’s a bitch?’ So, then it causes commotion and I’m just like ‘Damn now what?’ I look like the problem. So, then security come and he’s like ‘Alright y’all gonna have to leave.’ Mind y’all, I’m the victim.

“I didn’t do none. I’m sitting on the couch posting, minding my business. I didn’t do nothing to nobody. So, the fact that people are trying to create this narrative of ‘Lyss came somewhere uninvited and she came here just to spy on folks’ Y’all gotta stop all that lying. Y’all gotta stop lying. So, I’m saying I’m the victim in that situation for sure. I didn’t do nothing. I didn’t bother nobody.”

Smith went on to remind fans that she has seen this “young lady”, meaning Carrington, “multiple times” when alluding to their breakup, including playing against each other on the court.

“There was no static,” Smith said. “But I guess the liquor, the cameras, her crowd, I guess she got some type of — somebody boosted her up to gain some confidence.

“But at the end of the day, that was some bulls–t. We came to the spot. Folks was chilling. Nobody did nothing to nobody. I didn’t go out of my way to bother anybody or come to somewhere uninvited. I never came somewhere uninvited.”

In November 2025, Carrington announced the split but no cheating or harsh ending was mentioned.

“We’re good, but we’re not together anymore,” she said. “It was on good terms – we just grew in different directions.”

The saga will come to a head on the court on Saturday when the Sky and Aces face off in Chicago.

Following the All-Star break, Carrington is expected to make her Sky debut since suffering a foot injury that has kept her sidelined.
