Garrett Wilson, Geno Smith show off growing chemistry on pretty Jets touchdown

Observations from Jets training camp Thursday

Something good

It is easy to overlook Garrett Wilson at times because we expect him to play well, so when he does, it is ho hum. On Thursday, he showed his skill when he beat cornerback Brandon Stephens in a red zone period to get wide open. Geno Smith hit him with a pretty 25-yard touchdown pass. These two are developing chemistry.

Something bad

Rookie WR Omar Cooper Jr. had a bad drop during a 7-on-7 period. Cooper has had an up-and-down training camp so far. The joint practices and preseason games will be huge for him.

Caught my eye

The kicking competition is a good one. Jason Sanders went 5-for-8 on Thursday, missing from 47, 51 and 53 yards. Cade York went 5-for-7 with misses from 52 and 53.

Medical report

RB Isaiah Davis (knee) is out for a few weeks. Aaron Glenn said the Jets got good news on rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) but he will still miss several weeks. Glenn expects him back for Week 1. CB Nahshon Wright (hip) did not practice Thursday. Rookie CB D’Angelo Ponds (calf) is getting close to returning. DE Kingsley Enagbare (ankle) is day-to-day.
