A Costco employee fueled by jealousy and rage was captured on video knocking his coworker off a motorcycle and sending him hurling into a pole and killing him.

Tyler Sorensen, 22, allegedly followed his 20-year-old coworker, Jonathon Langdon, out of a Costco parking lot in Issaquah, Washington after seeing Langdon hug another coworker, Samantha Peterson, with whom Sorensen was reportedly infatuated, prosecutors said. Langdon was riding a motorcycle while Sorensen drove a gray sedan.

Video obtained by The California Post allegedly shows Sorensen catching up to Langdon before ramming the back of his motorcycle, sending him into a street sign and killing him almost instantly.

Langdon’s motorcycle continued to travel forward without a rider.

“Langdon’s body is seen violently impacting the metal signpost, causing his body to wrap around the post and recoil backwards, landing face down,” court documents revealed.

Prosecutors said that Langdon was positioned face down and was wearing a black motorcycle helmet when first responders made it to the scene. The impact of the crash was so significant it caused Langdon’s visor to separate from his helmet.

“Langdon’s shirt was pulled up from his waist and there appeared to be an impact mark on his lower back. The impact mark appeared to match the metal sign post next to Langdon in width and the circular holes, which left visible matching marks on his skin,” according to court documents.

Sorensen became enraged with Langdon after he saw him hugging Peterson in the parking lot of Costco Headquarters in North Issaquah, Washington, a charging document said. 

After coming only a few feet from striking Peterson and Langdon with his car in the parking lot, Sorensen then waited another 10 minutes for Langdon to leave the parking lot on his motorcycle, following him in his sedan, prosecutors said.

“Always told me he was just a friend. My blood is boiling,” Sorensen texted to friends along with a photo of Peterson and Langdon while they hugged, court documents revealed.

Rather than stopping to help or call 911, investigators say Sorensen drove away, pulling over only to inspect the damage to his sedan and make sure it was still drivable. On his way home, he was stopped and cited for speeding by a Washington State Patrol trooper who was unaware a fatal hit-and-run had occurred just miles away.

Authorities said Sorensen returned to the scene only after his father learned about the crash and brought him back to surrender.

After his arrest, Sorensen allegedly admitted to investigators, “It was stupid but I… meant to do it.” He said he became “panicked” and “riled up” after seeing Langdon hug coworker Samantha Peterson, whom he was infatuated with.

Peterson, however, told investigators the two had never dated and that she had repeatedly told Sorensen he was “crossing boundaries” and that she “needed space.”

Sorensen pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Thursday. Following the hearing, the judge set bail at $2 million, ordering him to remain in custody. The Costco worker is scheduled to return to court on August 27 for a routine pre-trial conference.
