Terrifying knifeman wanted for broad-daylight stabbing of 68-year-old on quiet California street

A 68-year-old California man was stabbed to death outside a home Thursday evening — and cops are now hunting for the killer.

Martinez police received a flurry of 911 calls around 5:09 p.m. Aug. 6 reporting that a man had been stabbed on Francis Court, according to police.

Officers arrived to find Todd Stewart lying on the ground with injuries consistent with a stabbing, police said.

Firefighters and medical personnel rushed to the neighborhood, but Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect fled before police arrived and was last seen driving away in a Cadillac SUV, authorities said.

Detectives from the Martinez Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded, along with crime scene investigators from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Police released images of the suspect and vehicle as they work to identify and locate the person responsible.

The motive for the stabbing was not immediately clear.
