Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is almost here and Charlie Bushnell is warning fans that Luke is going to be in bad shape.

Chatting with DECIDER at San Diego Comic-Con about the upcoming season — which is set to premiere November 20 on Disney+ — Bushnell shared that after the catastrophic attempt to revive the Titan Kronos from the dead, Season 3 might just feature the demigod son of Hermes (Lin-Manuel Miranda) in the trenches.

“I feel like Luke kind of failed Kronos pretty miserably last season and Kronos kind of put him in his place for it,” Bushnell shared. “I think that’s the first time Luke has ever experienced that and so I think in between the end of last season and now, Luke has been like working overtime to try and make things right and climb back up the ladder and get back on Kronos’ good side.”

In the Rick Riordan book that Season 3 is based on, The Titan’s Curse, at one point Percy (Walker Scobell) says that Luke looks so rough that he might even feel bad for him if he didn’t hate his guts. That directly contrasts Luke’s second season/book appearance in which he was dazzling and country-club ready after being promised riches and power by the spirit of Kronos.

As for how disheveled the fans will see him after letting down the rogue titan, the young actor teased that fans should brace for Luke to look like he hasn’t slept, eaten, or done any of the self-care that gave him the shimmering appearance in Season 2 while aboard the Princess Andromeda.

“I mean without saying too much, the first scene we see him in, he’s looking rough. He’s lookin’ rough. And he’s no longer got his nice, like, you know, cruise skinny jeans, the nice Ralph Lauren sweater. He’s pretty beat up. He looks like he hasn’t showered in months,” Bushnell said with a laugh.

Gone are the days of Luke being on top of the world, especially as he fights to fall back into Kronos’ favor. The third season will see him still playing one of the big-bads as he and his group of heathens try to start a war over Olympus, bringing down the Gods who have sat for millennia. This season also features Luke back with his old friend Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), although it’s a hostage situation as Luke and Kronos attempt to lure Percy into taking on a weight of epic proportions… fans of the book will understand that reference.

In the meantime, viewers will have to sit tight and wait for the third season to see just how bad Luke is looking and feeling in his quest to bring down the Gods. Will this finally be the year they succeed?
