This season will likely be the final one before retirement for an Eagles mainstay.

Right tackle Lane Johnson, who won two Super Bowls in Philadelphia and has spent his entire 13-year career there after being the No. 4 overall pick in 2013, told reporters Saturday that “it’s probably going to be my last year.”

Johnson, 36, has missed time and been away from the team during training camp due to personal reasons, which he revealed Saturday included his mother “struggling with health stuff.”

“As you get older, things change in your life,” Johnson told reporters. “Priorities, your children get older, parents get older. It just puts things into perspective. … Just cause I’m getting to that point — those priorities away from football are starting to merge. Not that I don’t enjoy — I love everything about this game and preparing for it. That’s kinda where I’m at in my career. Just looking forward to this year, playing the best I can, stay healthy.”

Johnson said his movement feels good and that he thinks he can remain a “premier tackle in this league.”

He has made six Pro Bowls in his career, including three nods in a row between 2023-25 before that streak snapped last year, and earned a pair of All-Pro honors in 2017 and 2022.

In 2025, Johnson logged just 10 games, missing the final seven in the regular season — and the Eagles’ first-round loss in the postseason — with a Lisfranc injury. He still opted to return for the 2026 campaign even with longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland resigning and Chris Kuper getting hired.

“I’ve had those conversations with family members,” Johnson said of his eventual retirement, “and you can’t play forever. Not everybody can do what LeBron James is doing.”

Johnson, who shares three children with ex-wife Chelsea Goodman, married fiancée Kelsey Holmer in an April wedding in Nashville.

If this season ends up being his last, it’ll be with an Eagles group positioned to emerge as a contender once again behind quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, wideout DeVonta Smith and one of the league’s best defenses.
