Bills owner’s wife makes rare appearance after near-death scare

Kim Pegula, wife of Bills owner Terry Pegula, made her first known public appearance since July 2024 on Saturday as the team welcomed fans to its new $2.2 billion stadium for the first time for a practice.

Pegula has been rarely seen since going into cardiac arrest in June 2022, during which she suffered a brain injury due to lack of oxygen, as her tennis star daughter Jessica revealed in a February 2023 Players’ Tribune article.

But she was on the field Saturday at the new Highmark Stadium, walking hand in hand with Terry and posing for photos with son Matthew, as seen in video from the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

Jessica wrote in the Players’ Tribune piece that her mom was “dealing with significant expressive aphasia and significant memory issues.”

Kim might not be around if it weren’t for daughter Kelly, according to Jessica.

“My sister gave her CPR until the ambulance arrived. She saved her life,” Jessica wrote in 2023. “Even though she doesn’t like to take credit for this terrible situation, she absolutely saved her life, followed by the critical job performed by the paramedics who arrived and were able to restore a heartbeat.”

Kim made an appearance at Bills training camp in July 2023, and was also at camp in July 2024, when she broke down a team huddle.

Kim had been a frequent public presence alongside her husband, who also owns the Buffalo Sabres, before the cardiac arrest four years ago. She is still listed as a co-owner on both the Bills and Sabres websites.
