Influencer recalls horrifying moment she woke up to masked stranger at the foot of her bed in Bali

A Dubai-based influencer has recounted a horrifying experience while holidaying in Bali, claiming she woke to find a masked man standing at the foot of her bed.

Mira Dorenbosch and her husband Jaimy, who have been travelling around Bali for the past few weeks, have been left shaken by a particularly disturbing robbery over the weekend.

Dorenbosch said her husband was the first to notice something was amiss when he woke at about 5 am on Sunday and saw what he thought was a dog in the bedroom of their villa.

“Out of reflex he kicked towards [the dog],” Dorenbosch recounted in a post on Instagram, “Seconds later, he realized it was a man.”

“A man dressed completely in black, wearing a balaclava, was standing inside our bedroom right next to our bed when we were sleeping.

“I woke up in the middle of all this.”

She claims the man began threatening them and asking for her husband’s Rolex. She notes it was an oddly specific request considering he wasn’t wearing his Rolex and it wasn’t in the room at the time.

“It didn’t feel random,” Dorenbosch said, saying the incident has left her questioning who had access to their private villa and knowledge of the valuables they were travelling with.

The man ended up fleeing with her husband’s Hermes bag, and the couple filed a police report with local authorities.

She urged caution to others travelling in the area, saying: “Please be careful in Bali.”

“You always think something like this happens to someone else… until you wake up and there’s literally a masked man standing next to your bed.”

The couple, who are originally from the Netherlands, own a luxury real estate business in Marbella, Spain, that also rents out private holiday properties.
