Todd Bowles stood on a field at the Jets training center just after noon on Tuesday. His Buccaneers team had just finished a joint practice with the Jets and Bowles was now answering questions from the media. 

One question came about Jets quarterback Geno Smith, who played two seasons under Bowles in New York. 

“It was good to see him,” Bowles said. “It’s good to see him out there. He’s healthy. He’s happy. I’m happy for him.” 

It was 11 years to the day from when Bowles was answering different questions from the media about Smith. It was around the same time of day when Bowles walked into the press room Aug. 11, 2015 and announced that Smith had been punched in the face by teammate IK Enemkpali and suffered a broken jaw. The moment forever altered Smith’s career and changed Jets history.
