Inside Bob Iger, Josh Kushner’s jaw-dropping net worths after $12.5B Lakers deal

Businessmen Bob Iger and Josh Kushner just bought the Los Angeles Lakers for $12.5 billion, which is the most a North American sports franchise has ever been sold for.

Naturally, Lakers fans are keen to know more about their beloved team’s new owners. And if the staggering purchase price wasn’t evidence enough, both Iger (who is a former CEO at Disney) and Kushner (who founded venture capital firm Thrive Capital, which Iger invests in) have net worths that convey why the acquisition was possible in the first place.

Iger has a net worth of $600 million, as estimated by Celebrity Net Worth. This includes a Los Angeles mansion that has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and is worth an estimated $33 million. Iger and his wife, Willow Bay, purchased the home for $19.5 million back in 1995, but renovations have increased the home’s value.

Kushner has a net worth of $5.2 billion, according to Forbes. This makes him the 807th richest person in the world.

Kushner and his wife, supermodel Karlie Kloss, dropped $29.5 million on a home in Malibu back in 2024. The house spans 6,200 square feet, includes six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and three wrap-around terraces.

The residence’s structure is said to resemble the Sydney Opera House, and is nicknamed the “Wave House” because of its unique appearance.

It is unknown how the Lakers’ price was split between Iger and Kushner. But given that Kushner has the vastly superior net worth, it’s likely he put more money into the deal.

But all that matters is the Iger and Kushner are the Lakers’ new owners.
