Rumer Willis takes a 'leap of faith' and moves cross-country to Nashville

Rumer Willis is thrilled to be starting a new chapter in Nashville.

On Wednesday, Willis took to Instagram and shared a video packing up her life and taking a “leap of faith” for her cross-country move.

“Moving your whole life across the country is a leap of faith,” the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore began, while crediting Roadway Movers for helping streamline the “emotional” experience. “They carried two decades of my life across 2,000 miles and set it down in Nashville without a scratch.”

Willis went on to share details of her move, explaining that she felt peace during the long journey.

“I got to say goodbye to my old home without worrying about what was in the truck and if it was going to make the trip in one piece. That’s worth everything during a week this emotional.”

In her video, Willis showed the moving company loading all of her belongings into a truck and then unloading her things at her new home in Nashville.

In early 2025, Willis announced that she was leaving Los Angeles and moving to her family’s home in Idaho.

Rumer’s out-of-state move to Nashville came shortly after a California judge granted Willis temporary primary physical custody of her three-year-old daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, according to E! News. Willis shares her daughter with her former partner, musician Derek Richard Thomas.

Willis and Thomas split in 2024 after about two years together.

Willis and Thomas continue to share joint legal custody, meaning they both have a role in major decisions concerning their daughter, according to People. The court also established a parenting schedule for Thomas that began with monitored visits and was set to transition to unmonitored overnight visits in August.
