Cade Klubnik leads long touchdown drive in two-minute drill to end Jets practice

Observations from Monday’s Jets practice:

Something good

Cade Klubnik led a 70-yard touchdown drive in the two-minute drill to end practice, throwing an over-the-middle strike to Quincy Skinner Jr., who tapped his toes in the back of the end zone. Klubnik found Jelani Woods three times on the drive. He might have been sacked on a fourth-and-8, but the coaches encouraged the play to stay alive and he scrambled for a first down.

Something bad

Geno Smith airmailed a pass that was intercepted by Andre Cisco, who is in a battle to keep his starting job from last season with ball-hawking ex-Giant Dane Belton. Cisco caught the ball thrown right into his chest and took off with plenty of running room.

Caught my eye

The Jets dedicated a chunk of practice to situations where the offense was pinned against its own goal line. “Everything is magnified for the offense in a backed-up situation,” head coach Aaron Glenn said. “Even though it doesn’t happen a ton, when you go back and study it, they are critical. I want to make sure we know exactly how to operate.”

Injury report

RB Breece Hall strained his groin but Glenn is hopeful it’s not serious. S Minkah Fitzpatrick and LB Demario Davis were given veteran rest days and did not practice. WR Garrett Wilson was ill and vomiting and did not practice. DT T’Vondre Sweat and OLB Joseph Assai both practiced for the first time in camp. CB Mory Bamba, a star of the first preseason game, could miss a “couple weeks” with a knee injury.
