Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty dodges ‘long-term’ injury bullet, but not out of woods yet

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty’s injury isn’t expected to be long-term.

Jeanty is believed to have sprained his ankle after being helped off the practice field Sunday.

Though the Raiders are uncertain how much time the second-year star will miss, the organization doesn’t consider the injury to be long-term, according to NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.

The Raiders declined to comment on Jeanty’s injury.

During the team period on Sunday, Jeanty was diving for a catch and landed awkwardly. He was helped off the field by trainers and couldn’t put any pressure on his right leg. The entire team took a knee and said a prayer for Jeanty.

Jeanty is coming off a 2025 rookie season in which he recorded 975 yards on 266 rushing attempts with five touchdowns while adding 55 receptions for 346 yards and five additional scores.

While his rookie season was somewhat underwhelming for a No. 6 overall pick, Jeanty’s second season in the league should showcase him in a better light under head coach Klint Kubiak and a much-improved offensive line led by Tyler Linderbaum.

There are great expectations for Jeanty to emerge as a superstar running back in 2026, much like the organization hoped he would be last season.

Missing any time this season would be a devastating blow for the Raiders, who don’t have depth that could sufficiently replace Jeanty.

Raiders fans will have to continue holding their breath until more details surrounding Jeanty’s injury timeline surface.
