Dustin May exits start against Mets after getting hit by first-pitch comebacker in scary scene

Dustin May lasted just one batter Wednesday night.

The Brewers right-hander took an A.J. Ewing line drive off his right shoulder/armpit and left the game after throwing just one pitch.

May initially tried to stay in, but was in obvious pain and, after a few warmup pitches, departed.

Dustin May took a 106 mph line drive off the bat of A.J Ewing on the first pitch of the game to the shoulder. He seemed to be in severe discomfort and was removed from the game after throwing warmup pitches.

The Ewing line drive was hit at 105 mph.

May, acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline, entered the game with a 6-8 record and 4.57 ERA for the MLB-best Brewers.
