Brian Cashman’s contract is up — but don’t expect a Yankees exit

Yankees GM Brian Cashman’s contract is up, and yes, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be extended again.
This may disappoint some ring-thirsty Yankees fans, but his 29th straight winning season is secure. And that ain’t easy.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone might be on slightly less steady ground, as an eighth year out of nine failing to reach the World Series could at least spark some internal debate. Boone has always enjoyed the support of Cashman and club owner Hal Steinbrenner. But we can’t assume that support will never subside.
Pitching coach Matt Blake’s contract is up, and they understand they need to keep him. Bench coach Brad Ausmus was runner-up for Astros GM to the just-fired Dana Brown. Could he become a candidate there again?
