Michelle Obama makes surprising confession about daughters Malia and Sasha

Michelle Obama made a surprising confession about her daughters, Malia and Sasha, admitting that now that they’re out of the family home, she “doesn’t miss them.”

The revelation came about as the former first lady chatted with her brother, Craig Robinson, and comedian Jon Stewart during an episode of the siblings’ podcast, “IMO,” released on Wednesday.

The trio was discussing the dynamics of parenting young children and what it’s like when your kids move out.

“I don’t miss ’em,” Obama confessed with a laugh during the episode, referring to her two daughters, Malia, 28, and Sasha, 25, whom she shares with President Barack Obama.

“I don’t, I love them, I’m going to see them tonight for dinner,’” she clarified. “I love them, but Barack cried when they went to college and I was like, “Bye…”‘

“Now, Friday nights aren’t wrecked with terror and fear about, ‘Where are you, where are you?” she explained.

The “Becoming” author, 62, further explained that she’s proud of her daughters’ “growth” since their “emancipation,” and noted that she has “had so much quality time with my children, so much, I know them inside and out.”

It’s not the first time Michelle has discussed how she’s handled this stage of her life.

In another episode of “IMO” earlier this year, she called this a “new phase of life,” explaining that without children, ” a lot of the hard things” don’t come up as often in their household.

“When those beautiful, lovely kids we all want show up with their own agendas and their own needs, it’s the first major joint project you have to do together,” she explained, referring to herself and the former president.

The girls, who have largely stayed out of the spotlight, were last seen publicly with their parents at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago last June.

Malia and Sasha were only 10 and 7 years old, respectively, when their father was elected president of the United States in 2008.

Last May, Malia and Sasha made another rare public appearance with their mom in honor of Mother’s Day.
