In just a few hours, a new Little League World Series champion will be crowned.

After a month of competition, the two teams left standing are from Nevada and Curaçao.

It’s the second year in a row that a team from Nevada has reached the final game. Last year, a team from Las Vegas made the final, while this year’s Nevada finalists hail from Henderson. Henderson has the opportunity to become the first team from Nevada to win the LLBWS.

Nevada’s Carsynn Meyer made Little League World Series history as she became the first girl to play and record an RBI in the US Championship game. Meyer and teammate Kinley Rasmus are just the fourth pair of girls to play in the same Little League World Series.

Curaçao claimed the LLBWS international title over Japan yesterday after pitcher Jaymiëll Martina struck out 12 batters in 5.2 innings of work. Curaçao won in a 4-0 shutout victory.
