Yankees weighing Mitch Garver call-up with clock ticking

The Yankees are seriously contemplating whether to bring Mitch Garver to the majors, and are nearing deadlines that will force a decision.

Garver triggered an assignment clause, which gives teams until 3 p.m. ET on Monday to alert the Yankees directly if they would put the veteran catcher on their major league roster.

If no teams make that request, Garver remains with the Yankees on his current minor league contract. If there is a claim(s), the Yankees have 48 hours to decide whether to trade him to an interested team or to put him on their major league roster.

Hovering over all of this is that a player must be in an organization no later than noon Eastern on Tuesday, Sept. 1 to be eligible to be for a postseason roster.
