Ed desk: Parents, Know Your Rights!

“If you have school-age children, you may be worrying about what your kids will be exposed to when class resumes,” notes Ian Prior at The Wall Street Journal.

From “preferred pronouns” to girls “forced to share a locker room with boys,” these “real dangers” form “the subject of school board battles, federal investigations and lawsuits across the country.”

But “parents are no longer powerless” thanks to recent SCOTUS decisions and the Trump White House: They “have the right to opt out” of gender propaganda, “the right to their children’s records” and the right to review curricula.

Title XIV protects “sex-separated spaces” — “but legal rights mean little if parents don’t exercise them. As students return to school this fall, parents should know” how much power they have. 

Pollster: Left’s Trans Extremism Hobbles Dems

“Mainstream Democrats’ surrender” to the “far-left” poses a “formidable challenge” to the party’s “establishment” in the midterms, as it “has left Democrats” vulnerable on trans policies that “have hobbled” them before, argues Doug Schoen at Fox News.

This problem “is only getting worse” as “pressure from their left flank” means candidates must “refuse to distance themselves” from a position even “most Democrats do not endorse,” as polls indicate.

But virtually no Dems “supported a 2025 bill that sought to bar transgender athletes from competing against girls in K-12 schools,” and the “party’s elites continue supporting” the trans-rights policies that “could well have played a decisive role in the outcome” of 2024’s presidential election.

Legal beat: Progs’ Court-Packing Fever

Democratic “establishment candidates are offering the mob the Supreme Court to show their bona fides as the far left” targets “our constitutional system,” warns Jonathan Turley at Res ipsa loquitur.

The aim: Pack the court with new justices who will then “greenlight a variety of unconstitutional measures,” from “wealth taxes to reparations to climate control regulations.”

Beware: “The court was meant to be counter-majoritarian to protect minority groups and viewpoints from the majority will,” but the left seeks to use Dems’ next temporary majority to block out Republicans forever.

The “growing list of figures demanding the hostile takeover” of the high court ranges “from Kamala Harris to Pete Buttigieg,” as well as Sen. Liz Warren, James Carville and Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder. 

Eye on Britain: Greens Target the Free Press 

“The recent death of former Cambridge professor Jason Arday has provided Green Party leader Zack Polanski with his latest pretext for going after the media,” frets Max Thompson at Spiked.

Soon after denouncing newspapers’ “refusal to toe the ‘climate emergency’ line in their coverage of the heatwave,” Polanski “blamed Arday’s seeming suicide on the media’s reporting of Arday’s plagiarism, academic fraud and rampant fabulism.”

And now the Green Party is looking to endorse laws granting media regulators “the power to clamp down on ‘harassment’, which is the term Green supporters have used for press scrutiny.”

Instead of sticking to environmental concerns, the party had already opted to “pursue a string of culture-war issues, championing trans rights (at the expense of women) and demonising Israel. And now it’s coming after press freedom.”

From the right: Communism Is Democrats’ Sick Goal

A 2016 poll found 47% of “likely Democratic voters” viewed “socialism” and “communism” favorably, recalls the Issues & Insights’ editorial board.

And “today Democrats show a brazenness and shamelessness about their extremism.”

Per a November an I&I/TIPP poll, 55% of Dems agree with the principles of socialism, while only 27% don’t. Yet left unchecked, socialism will “metastasize into the moral cancer of communism,” history’s “worst political system.”

Indeed, today’s Democratic Socialists are aiming for “communism”: They’d “tear up” the Constitution, “destroy capitalism,” “open our borders,” “eliminate private property,” scrap the Supreme Court. . . Argh: “Neither socialism nor communism has ever succeeded in any country, anywhere at any time.”

“We doubt Americans want that. But is it what Democrats want?”
