It appears an end could be coming soon in the ongoing saga between former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom and the WNBA.

Freedom released a video of him speaing directly to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, in which he is calling for a “peace summit”, which would be a private conversation between the two, facilitated by Caitlyn Jenner.

Freedom claims that Jenner is a friend of his and that they’ve already spoken and is willing to participate in the potential conversation.

“I’m not a troublemaker. I’m more of a peacemaker,” Kanter said in the video.

“Listen, the whole world is laughing at you. You have turned the WNBA into a laughingstock.”

“It’s time to stop hiding behind closed-door meetings, excuses, and delays and finally give the public a clear answer.”

Freedom went on to say that he wants to have an “open and respectful conversation” with the commissioner that would include “No shouting. No hiding. No carefully scripted statements.”

The video ended with Freedom saying, “If you truly believe in your position, you should have no problem defending it publicly,” and told her that his offer is “officially on the table.”

The potential conversation between the two sides comes after Freedom said earlier this month that he would consider entering the 2027 WNBA Draft as a transgender player.

On August 10, Freedom put his money where his mouth was signing a document that asks the WNBA to accept his “decision to enter the player pool for the 2027 WNBA Draft.”

Despite having an 11-year career in the NBA, Kanter is eligible to declare for the Draft, due to Article XIII, Section 1(a) of the WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement not properly defining the term “women” or say anything about biological sex, hormone levels, or physical attributes, as it says, “Only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA.”

Since then, he’s been receiving backlash for his actions from former and current players of the NBA and WNBA.

Former Los Angeles Lakers player Patrick Beverley called out Freedom on his podcast, “The Pat Bev Show” and told him he is “disrespecting the game of basketball.”

On August 23, Freedom was seen sitting courtside at a WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, and would eventually be escorted out of the game after getting into an argument with Sky player Natash Cloud.

Freedom was seen cheering on Sophie Cunningham after she shot a three-pointer against the Sky, to which Cloud approached Freedom and told him, “She’s not going to sleep with you.”

Last week, Los Angeles Sparks guard Cameron Brink was asked about Freedom during an interview and blasted him over his recent actions and called him a “Stupid piece of s—t”

With Freedom officially giving Engelbert an offer to have a conversation, the ball is in her court.
