Sex fiend ex-NJ cop abused 11 firefighters under the guise of training— and used mechanical device to ‘hog-tie’ one
A sex-crazed former New Jersey cop who moonlighted as a volunteer fire chief allegedly assaulted a whopping 11 firefighters — including one whom he used a mechanical device to “hog-tie.”
Robert Sinnott Jr., 53, was indicted by a state grand jury on a slew of new charges Thursday, including fresh counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, second-degree official misconduct, and second-degree pattern of official misconduct, the New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport announced.
The retired Island Heights police officer and former chief of the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company in Toms River allegedly “created situations where he would be alone” with his 11 victims at various locations, including the firehouse and his home, according to the state’s top cop.
“He would allegedly handcuff victims under the false pretense of needing their assistance with a police-related training, or he would otherwise physically restrain them, before forcing sexual contact upon them against their will,” Davenport’s office said.
In one disturbing incident, Sinnott’s fire department subordinate arrived at his home in August 2022 only for the fire chief to allegedly handcuff and put him in a headlock, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by NJ.com.
The clothed creep then placed his groin into the firefighter’s hands and thrust while grunting — as the sex fiend snapped several photos of the attack with a digital camera, the filings alleged.
A month prior, Sinnott used a mechanical device to “hog tie” a male firefighter and climb on top of him before having sex with him and photographing it, the complaint alleged.
A third firefighter said Sinnott restrained him in the chief’s vehicle on Feb. 10, 2023, while they inspected a fire hydrant and pushed his head onto the dashboard, the outlet reported.
Sinnott then grabbed the firefighter’s arm and forced his hand onto Sinnott’s groin, before he chillingly laughed and released him, the filings claim.
The same firefighter was allegedly attacked again by the sex pest just two weeks later, when the chief grabbed him in a bear hug and rubbed his crotch against his buttocks while mocking him, court papers said.
“The defendant held positions of trust and power within the communities he served and among his coworkers and subordinates in government. But, as alleged in the indictment, he abused that trust again and again,” Davenport said in a statement.
Sinnott’s victims initially viewed him as a “role model, mentor, and father figure,” according to the filings.
“Due to Sinnott’s positive reputation in the community, they feared personal and
professional harassment and retaliation if they reported these incidents,” NJ.com reported, according to the affidavit.
Police arrested the perv at his home in Cape Coral, Florida, in December, and search warrants were executed on his home and vehicle.
He was then extradited to New Jersey to face charges. In addition to the new counts, Sinnott, who remains out of jail, faces four counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact and one count of second-degree official misconduct.
Sinnott has pleaded not guilty and “intends to fight this case with every ounce of his strength, his attorney, Michael Ansell, told the outlet.
The attorney added that the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office pursued charges against him in 2023, “but it didn’t go anywhere so the fact that the state pursued charges is very perplexing.”
Before he was slapped with charges, Sinnott “served with distinction and had an unblemished record,” Ansell added.
