An MTA worker and mom of three was struck and killed by an oncoming train as she worked on Bronx subway tracks late Thursday, officials and transit sources said. 

The construction flagger, identified as Moet McCullum, 41, was standing on the southbound tracks at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station around 11:30 p.m. when a D train pulled in and fatally struck her, according to the MTA. 

“This is a difficult day. Last night, we tragically lost a member of our MTA family,” MTA NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow said in a statement. 

“The incident is under investigation,” Crichlow added. “This morning, I was at the hospital, at the scene, and I met with her family … I ask that we all keep Ms. McCullum and her family in our thoughts and prayers.”

McCullum was a mother of three and had been on the job for just 11 months, transit sources said.

Construction flaggers are tasked with warning oncoming train operators of active work zones.

The Transport Workers Union Local 100 also said it was “deeply saddened” by McCullum’s death. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our member’s family, loved ones, friends, and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time,” the union said. “As we learn more, we ask everyone to keep the family in your prayers and our members working throughout the system in your thoughts.”

In a similar tragedy back in 2023, MTA flagger Hilarion Joseph, 57, was fatally struck by a train as he worked on the 34th Street-Herald Square tracks.

He had also been working for the MTA for just 11 months when he was killed.

And in 2024, a 64-year-old MTA flagger was struck by a Manhattan-bound F train in downtown Brooklyn Thursday and left with a serious head injury, officials said.

He had served as a track worker for six years, and was part of a team of four performing track inspections.
