Al Pacino and ‘Hairspray’ director John Waters lunch at Academy Museum visited by string of A-listers
Talk about a great Hollywood mashup: “Heat” legend Al Pacino and iconic cult director John Waters were seen recently “running into each other and having a warm embrace” while both dining at Fanny’s, the restaurant inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Waters — the director of “Hairspray” — was the subject of an Academy exhibition in 2023 (an honor even Pacino has yet to achieve) and joked at the time, “I’m so respectable I could puke.”
(We can only pray the Pacino/Waters meeting might lead to some wild collab.)
Andrew Rannels was also seen at Fanny’s last week.
Among other VIPs spotted lately at the museum: Addison Rae was seen touring the popular “Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon” exhibition, while Paul Thomas Anderson hosted a Vista Vision screening of “One Battle After Another” in the David Geffen Theater and gala honoree Charlize Theron spoke to the museum’s Teen Council before a screening of her 2015 epic, “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Other stars who’ve visited the museum include, Jason Sudeikis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christina Aguilera, Dave Bautista, Bette Midler and A-list directors Bong Joon Ho and Guillermo Del Toro.
