Former “The Sopranos” star and E Street Band rocker Steven Van Zandt is penning screenplays set in the Garden State, we hear.

Spies said that when the Bruce Springsteen Center For American Music in Long Branch, NJ, hosted a screening of Little Steven’s “The Making of Sun City” — the 1985 doc about Van Zandt’s “Sun City: Artists United Against Apartheid” campaign — the guitarist and actor was overheard chatting with Sony Pictures Classics movie maven Tom Bernard backstage as well as Jon Crowley, the executive director of the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission.

“They were in the green room [chatting] about how the E Street Band member is now focusing more on writing TV scripts with New Jersey as the potential location for production,” said a spy.

Van Zandt famously starred as Silvio Dante on “The Sopranos” for 86 episodes, and in the acclaimed series, “Lilyhammer.”  Artists Against Apartheid’s hit ’80s single, “Sun City,” brought together stars including Springsteen, Bono, Keith Richards, Lou Reed, Run-DMC, Joey Ramone, Miles Davis, Ringo Starr and many more.
