In the first official trailer for Peacock and A24’s Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, Linda Cardellini is on a mission to avenge her son, Jason Voorhees, a year after his drowning at Camp Crystal Lake, the fictional summer camp straight out of the original franchise.

Fresh off an Emmy win for her work in DTF St. Louis, Cardellini is getting bloodier than ever as she takes on the iconic role of Pamela Voorhees, a.k.a. the first killer from the movie series. In the newly-released trailer, the actress is channeling grief and pure anger in the same breath as she goes from serving up meals as a lunch lady to serving up kills to those who did her and her son dirty. But, as with the original films, there is more happening with Jason than meets the eye and just because he drowned in the water while no one was paying attention, does not mean that he is gone for good.

What Is Peacock’s Crystal Lake Show About?

The series, a prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, follows Cardellini’s character after the drowning of her son at the eponymous camp that serves as the show’s setting. As two strangers dig into Pamela’s past nearly a year after Jason’s drowning, questions begin to arise about who this woman is and what she is still doing lingering around Camp Crystal Lake.

All episodes of Crystal Lake arrive on Peacock on Thursday, October 15.
