Starrett-Lehigh building reigns supreme as key Fashion Week anchor

New York Fashion Week always draws attention to the monumental Starrett-Lehigh Building, and this year’s showings are no exception.

A key anchor of Fashion Week, which is now spread out over many Manhattan locations, the RXR-owned landmark was recently or soon will be the site of showings by brands such as Shoppe Object, Brand Assembly and the Affordable Art Fair.

The coming days will have showings by hot-button brand Public School, Tibi, Magda Butrym and  7 for All Mankind.

The presentations come on the heels of Ralph Lauren’s recent 22,000 square-foot office and showroom expansion to 280,000 square feet.

Starrett-Lehigh’s 2.3 million square feet make the 12-story building a horizontal skyscraper. RXR, which bought it in 2011, introduced major improvements including the replacement of 5,000 ribbon-style windows.

Adding to the “cool factor” are two trendy restaurants — Marcus Samuelsson’s ground-floor Hav & Mar and Crew’s roof-deck Yacht Club — and Olly Olly Market.
