Dodgers’ World Series hero earns emotional tribute video on the road
Los Angeles Dodgers’ utilityman Miguel Rojas plans on retiring at the end of the 2026 season.
But well before emerging as a World Series hero with the Dodgers, Rojas spent eight seasons in Miami. His tenure with the Marlins earned him a tribute video Sunday during the Dodgers’ series finale at LoanDepot Park.
With Rojas expecting to retire at the conclusion of the season, that would make Sunday his last game in Miami.
The veteran received a heartwarming ovation from the crowd.
Rojas started at second in the series finale Sunday with manager Dave Roberts explaining why he included the 37-year-old in the Dodgers lineup.
“This has been an important place for him. For him, to get a potential final start here, it’s important to him,” Roberts told reporters pregame.
Rojas etched his name in Dodgers postseason lore when he hit the game-tying run in ninth inning of World Series Game 7. He was the team’s No. 9 hitter and the Dodgers utilized Rojas for his elite defense.
Nobody expected the veteran to go yard. But he did.
In the twilight of his career, Rojas earned the title of World Series hero and the Dodgers expect the veteran to once again play a key role throughout the postseason this year as a clubhouse leader.
