Heroes, zeros from Jets’ win over the Titans: Breece Hall comes up big

Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ 23-10 win over the Titans on Sunday:

Hero

Jets quarterback Geno Smith wasn’t spectacular.

He didn’t throw a touchdown pass or run for one, but Smith was the professional at the position the Jets lacked in 2025 and was very efficient, passing 19-for-24 and 215 yards with no turnovers.

He made big passes when the Jets needed them and avoided the big mistakes that plagued the Jets last season at the position.

Zero

Titans quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 pick in 2025, was awful, passing just 19-for-32 for 140 yards and a TD.

He was sacked three times. Those numbers, though, were bloated by a late garbage-time drive.

The Titans amassed just 112 yards of total offense through the first three quarters.

Unsung hero

Breece Hall rushed for 102 yards on 22 carries and scored a TD. Hall, combined with the offensive line and complementary running of fellow back Braelon Allen, controlled the game offensively.

Key number

1: That’s how many times the Titans offense reached the red zone, and that didn’t happen until there were fewer than three minutes remaining in the game with the Jets leading 23-3.

Quote

“Pretty good start.’’

— Jets head coach Aaron Glenn
