A plane carrying popular Brazilian singer Rey Vaqueiro burst into flames Sunday when it crashed as it overshot the runway trying to land — but miraculously all those on board escaped without serious injuries.

Flames engulfed the Cessna 550 Bravo plane when it crashed in the woods near the airfield in Parelhas, northeast Brazil, early Sunday, dramatic video shared online shows.

Both of the plane’s engines caught fire, but the 26-year-old artist, whose most popular Spotify track has racked up 37.7 million listens, survived, as did the five members of his entourage and two pilots.

It took firefighters five hours to get the blaze under control. 

The cause of the crash is still being investigated, but Lima Verde, the local fire chief, suggested the plane’s brakes failed, which caused it to overshoot the runway, CNN Brasil reported.

Investigators have said there were no problems with the runway and that the 20-year-old plane’s air worthiness certificate did not expire until May 2027, according to Globo.

Vaqueiro, known for his tracks “Displicente – Ao Vivo” and “Veraozao (Ta Color,)” said in a statement that the crash caused his Sunday shows in Custódia and Canhotinho to be canceled.

The statement confirmed that the eight people on board the plane were safe and “receiving all [the] necessary medical care.”

“It’s unimaginable to think about a plane crash in Parelhas. But it happened,” Mayor Tiago Almeida wrote on Instagram on Sunday.

“In the face of a situation no one expected to live, health professionals and an entire team rallied together to care, welcome and do what they can in the face of such a delicate emergency.”

Vaqueiro’s concert in Parambu, which was supposed to take place Monday, has since been canceled.

He has another eight concerts scheduled for this week. It remains unclear if these will go ahead.

The crash happened just as the singer was approaching the midway point of his “Septembro do Rey” tour across the South American nation.
