Falling afoul of the law may finally oust pro-crime Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, but all too many “Soros DAs” remain in office across the country — and their deadly philosophy still dominates blue states.

A federal judge just referred Krasner for possible criminal prosecution over alleged perjury and other serious crimes in his office’s 2022 effort to overturn a vicious murderer’s conviction; the evidence includes his repeated reference to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office as “Nazis.” 

This is only the latest case exposing the DA’s dubious drive to spring multiple violent perps, a habit that didn’t stop voters from re-electing him twice even as he oversaw horrific increases in his city’s homicide rate.

Krasner was one of the first “progressive prosecutors” to take office over the past decades, and would be only the latest to get pushed out.

Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby lost a 2022 re-election primary a year after getting indicted on perjury charges related to financial fraud (the eventual verdict: guilty); she’d helped pioneer soft-on-“low level”-crime policies during COVID and let podcast-famous murderer Adnan Syed out of prison.

Boston DA Rachael Rollins created a 2019 list of 15 crimes, including trespassing and drug possession with intent to distribute, that her office would never prosecute; she left her later role as Massachusetts US Attorney in disgrace over multiple serious ethics violations, including leaking government secrets to help elect an ally.

Voters ousted pro-crime Portland, Ore., DA Mike Schmidt in a 2024 primary and recalled San Francisco’s odious Chesa Boudin in 2022.

St. Louis’ Kim Gardner quit in 2023 as Missouri’s attorney general moved to force her out; her successor immediately doubled cases charged.

In Minnesota, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty will be gone in January; she declined to seek re-election after controversies such as instructing her office to hand out charges based on race (she officially dropped the policy amid a federal investigation) and granting an implicit OK to commit political violence against Tesla owners — all while letting rapists and killers walk free. 

Similarly, Chicago State’s Attorney Kim Foxx decided not to run for re-election in 2024 after her pro-thug policies came in for fiery criticism (not to mention the Jussie Smollett fiasco); LA’s George Gascón lost in a landslide to tough-on-crime Nathan Hochman the same year.

Yet all too many remain in power. 

Austin, Texas, DA Jose Garza won re-election in 2024, though he’d gone after cops with felony charges for their actions during the Floyd riots and mulled charges against three officers who shot a crazed gunman in a bar (he backed off amid massive negative publicity). 

In northern Virginia, Fairfax County Commonweath’s Attorney  Steve Descano has adopted what may be the most pro-crime policies of all: reduced sentences for illegal-immigrant criminals plus a general disposition to let violent thugs off the hook, resulting in the murder of Stephanie Minter by Leonian illegal Abdul Jalloh.  

And of course Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg might stay on for decades.

Meanwhile, other elected Democrats keep making things worse; New York’s Legislature keeps passing empty-the-prisons and -jails laws, while Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Parole Board picks are proving as let-’em-loose as her predecessors’.

Same down in Virginia, where Gov. Abigail Spanberger, despite playing tough-on-crime in last year’s campaign, has replaced the entire Parole Board; it’s now ordering 10 times as many early prison releases.

At least California voters were able to (overwhelmingly) pass Prop. 36 in 2024, tightening some insanely-soft laws over the vehement objections of Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democratic establishment.

Americans have the power to insist their governments prioritize public safety, but it’ll be a constant struggle until pro-crime Dems start losing en masse, and the politicians finally get the message.
