The news on Jaxson Dart is in, and it’s much worse than feared.

Further testing revealed that Dart’s injury was more significant than initially thought and he is facing the possibility of season-ending surgey, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Dart limped off the field in the first quarter following a hit from both ends by Rams defenders Byron Young and Josiah Stewart in the Giants’ ugly 28-6 loss. Following the hit, he immediately clutched his knee and was in obvious pain. After undergoing tests, Dart emerged on the sideline in team-issued warmups. He didn’t talk to reporters after the loss.

Jameis Winston struggled mightily in his place, completing only 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with an interception. The Giants will need him to play better in Dart’s absence.
