Weird things are continuing to go down at fashion shows around the world.

Yesterday at Milan Fashion Week, Diesel Creative Director Glenn Martens decided to do something a little … different for his Spring-Summer 2027 runway show.

It all started relatively normally, with models walking down the runway, as they tend to do at these types of events.

But as the lights turned red, models secretly scattered throughout the audience suddenly began passionately kissing, moaning, and performing other X-rated acts as Donna Summer’s Love to Love You Baby blasted in the background.

At one point, horrified audience members were forced to witness a man in the front row aggressively sucking on his fingers.

“Every season we try to do something unexpected. This one was a bit more … experimental,” Martens said backstage, according to AP.

“I think the whole celebration of being body positive and loving each other is part of the Diesel DNA.”

And the clothes were equally chaotic.

The collection featured what looked like knitwear disintegrating into denim and leather, while shorts progressively shrank until the final look was little more than a measly strip of fabric across the bum.

One pair, worn by a male model, closely resembled what would appear to be denim underwear and honestly, that doesn’t exactly sound comfortable.

The explicit spectacle caused quite the stir, with thousands flocking to social media to call the performance “distasteful”, “gross”, and “absurd”.

New York-based model Luca Mornet shared the strange ordeal on Instagram, captioning his post: “I’ve never been more confused in my whole life”.

“What has happened to society?” one person commented, while another added: “Can we just see clothes at runways?”.

Some X users were even more blunt, with one noting the event had quite literally “turned into [an] orgy”, while others claimed the acts were so distracting they “couldn’t even pay attention to the collection.”

Despite the backlash, the odd few seemed to get around the strange proceedings.

“Oh hell yeah to bringing the catwalk alive,” one fan wrote.

And, at the end of the show, Mr Martens even received a standing ovation.

Fashion Week chaos

It’s not the first time in the last period that a Fashion Week controversy has erupted.

Days ago, Steven Kolb, the chief executive of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), resigned after footage showed him physically restraining two animal rights activists during a confrontation at New York Fashion Week.

In a video, Mr Kolb was seen trying to hold back two PETA protesters who attempted to disrupt the show in a demonstration against the use of wool by H&M Group, which owns COS.

Kolb pushed a protester named Mason Melito and covered his mouth. He also wrestled another protester to the ground, holding her down with his arms and leg while covering her mouth with his hand.

He later conceded his actions were “inappropriate” and said he was “deeply sorry”.
