Just two weeks into Dancing With the Stars Season 35 and frontrunners are emerging… unsurprisingly, it might just be the Olympic heroes who take home gold this season.

While the start of a new year of DWTS always comes with complaints and negative feedback about what constitutes a “star” in this day and age, it rarely takes more than a week or two once the competition is up and going for fans to fall in love with certain contestants and start defending them to the death. This year, there appeared to be an unusually high number of issues from viewers who griped online about the TikTok stars and reality personalities, but anyone whose name and face they did not immediately recognize, a category that includes someone like Ezra Frech.

A two-time Paralympic gold medalist for Team USA, the 21-year-old track and field athlete is already emerging as one of the early frontrunners in the race for the Mirrorball Trophy, thanks to his charming personality, incredible backstory, and lethal choreography from Daniella Karagach. On the other side of the competition, Ezra is flanked only by fellow Team USA champion Amber Glenn, a three-time U.S. National Champion in figure skating and a 2026 Winter Olympics gold medalist. The athletes have it and the other contestants want it.

During Week 2, “Viral Hits Night,” Ezra and Dani wowed the audience with a cha-cha to “Low” by Flo Rida, while Amber and Pasha performed a tango to “All the Things She Said” by Harrison, made popular by Heated Rivalry. Both teams scored a leaderboard-topping 21 out of 30 for their dances, sharing the highest spot for the second week alongside The Rookie‘s Jenna Dewan and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy.

Athletes, especially Olympians, have always had a solid entry point when it comes to a competition like Dancing with the Stars; rigorous training, discipline, and a competitive spirit cannot be undervalued in any contest. Perhaps it is why both Amber and Ezra have hit the ground running, taking high scores for the first two weeks of the show and establishing themselves as early frontrunners in the competition.

Fans need not look any further than the comment section (and the viewing numbers) for Amber and Ezra’s dances for the first two weeks, including their more recent dances for “Viral Hits Night,” where viewers have called them two of the most promising dancers of Season 35.

“The fact that I can’t take my eyes off Ezra when Dani is his partner is CRAZY! SO GOOD!” a YouTube viewer commented on Ezra and Dani’s Week 2 dance, which is already at 100,000 views.

“He hit that split and I gasped out loud at my TV. They’re so in sync that they even fall to the ground at the same time after the dance ends,” another added.

Over on the video of Amber and Pasha’s tango, platform users similarly showered the pair with praise for the synchronicity and tenacity as they excellently pulled off “one of the best of the season” so far, both according to fans and the judges themselves.

“How on earth did they not get an 8!? Best dance of the night for me,” one commenter wrote.

“Best of the night!! We want 2 Olympic gold medalists and husband vs wife for the final 2!!” another shared, referencing Daniella and Pasha’s real-life love story.

It’s clear that these two teams are becoming ones to watch and ones to vote for week after week, especially for the longtime Dancing With the Stars fans who want to see Dani and Pasha go up against each other for the Mirrorball Trophy. Could Amber Glenn and Ezra Frech be the contestants who can take them all the way and bring Dani her second win or Pasha his first? We think so.
