Looking for a movie you can take your kids to this weekend? Look no further than Forgotten Island, the new animated DreamWorks movie that opens in theaters everywhere on Friday. It’s definitely a lot more kid-friendly than Resident Evil!

Written and directed by Joel Crawford (who also directed Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) and Januel Mercado, Forgotten Island tells the story of two best friends in the Philippines in the 1990s, who get themselves trapped in the magical, mysterious island called Nakali. This would be cool, if it weren’t for the fact that there are bunch of demons living on the island who feed on the friends’ memories. They have got to get out of there before they forget everything!

The Forgotten Island voice cast includes H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng, and Lea Salonga. The movie sounds like a fun time for both parents and kids at the movies. But if you’d rather wait to watch it at home, then read on to find out what we know about when and where the Forgotten Island movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the Forgotten Island movie:

Forgotten Island will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday September 25, in theaters nationwide. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Forgotten Island is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Forgotten Island movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Forgotten Island is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now.

You will be able to purchase Forgotten Island on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital.

Forgotten Island will likely stream on Netflix eventually, four months after it streams on Peacock, as part of Universal’s deal with Netflix that sends Universal animated movies, including DreamWorks and Illumination, to Netflix for a limited period. If our prediction for the Peacock release Forgotten Island is correct, then you might see Forgotten Island streaming on Netflix around late May 2027.

But the first place that Forgotten Island will be streaming on a subscription-based streamer will be Peacock, due to the fact that the film is a Universal release. Almost all Universal movies go to the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock.

Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $12.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $19.99/month.

You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $129.99 with ads or $199.99 without ads.

Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.

Is the Forgotten Island movie streaming on Disney+?

Forgotten Island not streaming on Disney+, and will likely never be streaming on Disney+, because it is not a Disney movie. Not all animated movies are Disney! If you want to watch Forgotten Island on streaming, you’ll have to wait for the film to stream on Peacock, followed by it streaming on Netflix.

Is the Forgotten Island movie streaming on Peacock?

Forgotten Island streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but you will likely see the Forgotten Island streaming on Peacock later this year. Another Universal release, Disclosure Day, will begin streaming on Peacock about four months after the movie opened in theaters.

If Forgotten Island follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital in about a month, around late October 2026, and streaming on Peacock around late January 2027. That said, other Universal movies have taken just three, or even two months to come to Peacock, so you may see Forgotten Island on Peacock even earlier, around December 2026.

This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent digital release strategy. If you want to watch the  Forgotten Island movie right away, your best bet is to catch the movie in theaters.
