Another week of what we still call, absent an accurate term, sports.

Let’s take it chronologically:

The end of Saturday’s NC State-Vanderbilt game broke fresh ground in adult-supervised big-ticket insanity. NC State’s quarterback, likely wisely instructed to concede a safety or at least throw it out of bounds on the last play of the game to ensure the visitors a road win, instead chose to scramble around in the end zone — “use his legs” in modern TV parlance. As he was tackled he fumbled.
