Padres’ new $4.5 billion owner celebrates playoff spot with beer bong
New San Diego Padres owners José E. Feliciano and his wife, Kwanza Jones, have poured optimism into the franchise and its fan base since buying the Padres for $3.9 billion in August.
Feliciano celebrated San Diego clinching a playoff spot against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 4-2 win on Thursday night by pouring something of his own.
A video of Feliciano, who is an investor, business leader and philanthropist with an estimated $4.5 billion net worth, chugging a beer bong with Padres pitcher Walker Buehler has gone viral on X.
The video shows the end of Feliciano’s chug, then shows Buehler walking away in satisfaction.
Once the chug ends, Feliciano is patted on the back by Jones.
Several other videos of Buehler, who has gone 9-6 with a 4.56 ERA this season walking on the field with the beer bong have circulated on social media. On Friday morning, he responded to one such X video from a Dodgers fan account, saying, “It’s my thing”.
The party didn’t end on the field. Jones and Feliciano kept the celebration going with the Padres in the locker room, boozing it up in celebration of San Diego advancing to its third straight postseason.
As much as Padres fans are loving this from their team and owners, it appears to have irked Dodgers fans, since it took place at their home stadium.
These two NL West rivals could match up in the postseason. If they do, time will tell who gets the last chug.
