Meep meep! That’s the sound of the new Coyote vs. Acme movie zooming onto to digital platforms to buy and rent, starting tomorrow.

This part-live-action, part-animated comedy about the mischievous Looney Tunes cartoon character was filmed in 2022, and completed back in 2023. But in a bizarre move helmed by the new head of WB, David Zaslav, the finished film was shelved in November 2023, never to be released, for the purposes of a tax loss write-off.

Obviously, the film’s director Dave Green and the rest of the cast and crew who worked on the movie weren’t too thrilled about this. Thankfully, WB eventually agreed to shop the film around to other distributors. Finally, the movie came out in theaters last month, thanks to Ketchup Entertainment, a small production company that bought the distribution rights.

The film stars Will Forte as a down-on-his-luck attorney who takes on a new client, Wile E. Coyote, who is filing a personal injury lawsuit against Acme, for all the various injuries he sustained while trying, and failing, to catch the road runner. The movie was well-liked by critics even if it wasn’t a box office smash. Soon, even more viewers will be able to watch the movie on video-on-demand. But before you drop $25 on the film, read on find out if and when Coyote vs. Acme might be streaming on HBO Max.

Coyote vs. Acme will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Tuesday, September 29 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on September 28). You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.”

The Coyote vs. Acme movie 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release date has not yet been announced.

Coyote vs. Acme is not yet available on a subscription-based streaming service, but you might see Coyote vs. Acme streaming on HBO Max eventually.

Will the Coyote vs. Acme movie be streaming on HBO Max?

Even though Coyote vs. Acme is not being distributed by Warner Bros., you might still see the Coyote vs. Acme movie streaming on the Warner Bros-owned streaming service, HBO Max, at some point before the end of the year. After all, the Looney Tunes characters are still Warner Bros. property.

In the case of The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, another Warner Bros-produced movie that was shelved and then eventually sold to Ketchup Entertainment, the movie did come to HBO Max, about three-and-a-half months after the film opened in theaters.

If Coyote vs. Acme follows the same pattern as The Day the Earth Blew Up, you might see the Coyote vs. Acme movie on HBO Max around mid-December 2026, aka about three-and-a-half months after it opens in theaters.
